App Setup Basics for GALAYOU G7 Wi-Fi

Set up the GALAYOU G7 Wi-Fi in Wansview Cloud before moving the camera to its final location. Start close to the router, use a stable 2.4 GHz network, and choose the pairing method that works best for your setup.

[note] Menu names, indicator patterns, and setup screens can vary by camera version and app version. [/note]

Prepare for Setup

[checklist] * Power on the GALAYOU G7 Wi-Fi camera * Use a stable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network * Turn on Wi-Fi on the Android phone * Allow Location access when the app needs to scan nearby Wi-Fi networks * Enable Bluetooth only when the setup flow requests it * Install and sign in to Wansview Cloud * Pause VPN, proxy, or Private DNS use during setup when possible [/checklist]

Use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi

The GALAYOU G7 Wi-Fi uses a 2.4 GHz network for setup. Many routers provide both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Select the dedicated 2.4 GHz network name when your router shows separate options.

Stay Near the Router

Keep the camera close to the router during initial pairing, ideally within about 1 meter. Move it to the final location only after it appears online.

Allow Wi-Fi Scanning

If the app does not show nearby Wi-Fi networks, allow Location permission for Wansview Cloud and temporarily turn on phone Location services. Android can require this for Wi-Fi scanning inside apps.

[tip] A clean setup near the router is usually more reliable than trying to pair the camera from its final room location. [/tip]

Open Wansview Cloud

[step] 1. Open Wansview Cloud on the Android phone. 2. Sign in or create an account when needed. 3. Open the main device list. 4. Tap Add Device or the plus icon. [/step]

For household sharing, each person should use their own account and receive camera access through the sharing feature instead of using one shared password.

Put the Camera in Setup Mode

A new camera may already be ready for pairing. Follow the indicator-light confirmation requested in the app.

  • Use the normal on-screen setup flow when the camera is already discoverable.
  • When the camera is not discoverable, press and hold its Reset control for a few seconds until it restarts and returns to setup mode.
  • Wait for a setup-ready indicator pattern before continuing.

Some GALAYOU G7 units may show an intermittent blue double-flashing pattern when ready to connect. Indicator behavior can vary.

Choose a Pairing Method

[compare] QR Code Setup | The phone displays a QR code for the camera to scan. It is quick when lighting and scanning conditions are suitable. Soft-AP Setup | The phone briefly connects to the camera's temporary Wi-Fi hotspot, then sends home Wi-Fi details to the camera. It can be useful when QR setup does not complete. [/compare]

QR Code Setup

[step] 1. Tap Add Device in Wansview Cloud. 2. Choose the camera category or setup flow that includes GALAYOU G7. 3. Select the QR code pairing option. 4. Choose the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. 5. Enter the Wi-Fi password carefully. 6. Continue until the QR code appears on the phone screen. 7. Hold the QR code in front of the camera lens until the app confirms the next step. [/step]

Help the Camera Scan the QR Code

  • Set phone brightness to a medium level.
  • Hold the phone about 8–20 cm from the camera lens.
  • Keep the QR code centered and steady.
  • Change the angle slightly if glare appears on the screen.
  • Keep strong lighting from shining behind the phone.
  • Clean the camera lens gently if the image looks unclear.

After a successful scan, the app may show a connecting or registering stage. When the camera comes online, you may be able to name it, assign a room or group, and open Live View.

[tip] If QR pairing does not complete after one or two careful attempts, try Soft-AP instead of repeating the same scan conditions. [/tip]

Soft-AP Setup

Soft-AP setup temporarily connects the phone to the camera's own Wi-Fi hotspot, then transfers the selected home Wi-Fi details.

[step] 1. Tap Add Device. 2. Select the camera path that includes GALAYOU G7. 3. Choose Wi-Fi connection by Soft-AP when it appears. 4. Use an option such as Didn't You Hear It?, Other Connection Method, or Connect Manually when Soft-AP is not shown directly. 5. Confirm the camera's setup-ready indicator pattern. 6. Follow the app prompt to open phone Wi-Fi settings. 7. Connect to the temporary camera hotspot, often named WVC followed by additional characters. 8. Return to Wansview Cloud and keep the phone connected until the app continues. 9. Select the home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. 10. Enter the Wi-Fi password and wait for the camera to come online. [/step]

After Soft-AP pairing completes, name the camera and finish the app setup flow.

When the Wi-Fi List Is Empty

  • Allow Location permission for Wansview Cloud.
  • Temporarily turn on Location services.
  • Refresh the Wi-Fi list in the app.
[warning] Do not switch away from the temporary camera hotspot until the app has finished its connection stage. [/warning]

Essential First Settings

[reference] Title: Time Zone Text: Set the correct time zone so playback, event timestamps, and notification timing are easier to follow. Title: Camera Update Text: Install an available camera update only when the app prompts you and the camera has stable power and connection. Title: Recording Storage Text: Choose microSD storage, cloud storage, or both based on the recording setup you want. Title: Phone Notifications Text: Allow Wansview Cloud notifications and reduce heavy battery restrictions when alerts are important. [/reference]
  • Format a newly prepared microSD card in the app when you do not need existing files.
  • Confirm the camera can load Live View from its final location.
  • Review motion detection, Activity Zones, and alert preferences after setup.

Basic Setup Checks

[troubleshoot] Problem: The camera does not connect to Wi-Fi Cause: The selected network may be 5 GHz, the password may be incorrect, router coverage may be weak, or network settings may block setup. Fix: Select the 2.4 GHz network, recheck the password, move the camera closer to the router, pause VPN or proxy use, restart the camera and router if needed, then try Soft-AP pairing. Problem: The app cannot find nearby Wi-Fi networks Cause: Android Location permission or Location services may be unavailable. Fix: Allow Location permission for Wansview Cloud, temporarily turn on Location services, then refresh the Wi-Fi list. Problem: The WVC camera hotspot does not appear Cause: The camera may not be in setup mode, the hotspot may still be starting, or the phone may be too far away. Fix: Confirm the setup-ready indicator, restart the camera using the normal power procedure, return it to setup mode when needed, then move the phone closer and try Soft-AP again. Problem: QR code scanning does not complete Cause: Screen glare, unsuitable phone distance, low or excessive screen brightness, or a blurred camera lens may affect scanning. Fix: Use medium screen brightness, hold the phone 8–20 cm from the lens, reduce glare, clean the lens gently, then switch to Soft-AP if QR pairing continues to fail. Problem: Setup finishes but the camera still shows offline Cause: The camera may still be connecting, router internet may be unstable, or the initial pairing may not have completed fully. Fix: Wait 1–2 minutes, confirm that the router connection is stable, restart the camera and router once, then repeat Soft-AP setup close to the router if needed. [/troubleshoot]

After Setup

[dosdonts] Do: Keep the camera on stable power during setup. Do: Test Live View, motion events, and notifications after moving the camera to its final location. Do: Use Soft-AP when QR scanning is unreliable or the Wi-Fi environment is busy. Do: Keep the camera within reliable Wi-Fi coverage after installation. Dont: Attempt initial pairing from a distant room when the camera can be placed near the router first. Dont: Use a 5 GHz network for the GALAYOU G7 Wi-Fi setup. Dont: Move the camera before confirming that setup has completed successfully. [/dosdonts]
